Preparation, levels and water

We assess ground conditions, access and finished levels at a free site visit. The specification includes excavation, a suitable compacted sub-base, restraint at the edges and the appropriate bedding for the material. A slab patio requires full bedding, not isolated mortar dabs.

Rainwater must have a suitable destination. We plan falls away from buildings, keep paving clear of the damp proof course and consider channels or permeable construction where appropriate. Front-garden surfacing, changed access and protected properties may require planning advice; a permeable product alone does not settle every permission question.

Maintenance and quotation

Sweeping leaves and cleaning algae help preserve grip. Block paving may need joint sand replenished; sandstone can need repointing, while porcelain normally needs cleaning rather than sealing. The quote depends on access, ground preparation, area, edging, cuts and drainage, not just the slab price. We provide a written specification rather than invent a fixed price before seeing the site.
